In the Netherlands, you can vote if you have Dutch nationality and are 18 years old or older. Yet there are plenty of other voting barriers for people with disabilities. What if the polling station is not wheelchair-proof? Or if you have a long-term illness or are visually impaired? That’s why the Human Rights Board is launching the Unrestricted Voting Hotline. Its purpose? To collect experiences and to ensure that these issues become visible. In this way the Board wants to draw the attention of a broad audience to the problem. It was up to De Wolven to collect experiences and to set up a Facebook and PR campaign.
The Facebook campaign of the Unlimited Voting Hotline was seen by over 135,000 people and resulted in 1,500 clicks. Some highlights in the media:
Ample attention for the hotline in both the Volkskrant, Nu.nl, BNR Nieuwsradio, NOS Radio 1, various trade media and regional media.
