Kvik’s latest kitchen Veda combines Danish design and recycled materials
One step closer to being climate-positive by 2025
This autumn, Danish kitchen manufacturer Kvik is introducing its timeless Veda kitchen design in a new sustainable look and in five atmospheric shades inspired by Danish nature. The design is minimalist, elegant and designed with the climate in mind. The kitchen consists of 40% recycled materials, including recycled MDF, a first in the kitchen industry. In addition, 84% of the materials can be recycled. Although Kvik already produces CO2 positively, this brings the kitchen manufacturer one step closer to its ambition of being fully CO2 positive by 2025 in cooperation with all suppliers. In addition to Veda, Kvik is releasing four handle styles and a new collection of accessories to personalize the Veda kitchen.
From linear to circular
Claus Johnsen, Head of Category Management & Design at Kvik says: “By being curious and innovative, we keep finding more sustainable materials and ways to produce. Products that we put on the market today should consist of materials that we can reuse tomorrow. Waste that cannot be reused is no longer an option. In this way, we want to accelerate the transition from linear to circular design.”
First in kitchen sector: recycled MDF
All Veda kitchen cabinets contain a brand new product within the kitchen industry: recycled MDF. A unique material with which Kvik is rapidly increasing the proportion of recycled materials in all its products. In addition to using recycled materials, much of the Veda kitchen can be recycled again after completion. For the wooden variants this is 99% possible, for the other variants the percentage is 84%. This includes cabinets, baseboards, fronts and laminate worktop and excludes sink, faucet and appliances.
The new Veda kitchen is available in five different colors and finishes: Clean white, Light grey, Mossy green, Dark oak and Light oak. The Veda with light and dark oak fronts consists of 51% recycled materials, the other variants contain 40% recycled materials. Thanks to adjustments that Kvik is continuously making together with its suppliers, the proportion of recycled materials will continue to increase. For example, the Veda Clean White will consist of 57% recycled materials by 2022.

Together with Veda, Kvik is releasing four new handle styles. These styles are named Modern, Minimalistic, Industrial and Classic. Kvik is also launching a new collection of accessories, including hooks and a matching mixer in four different colors. This allows customers to create their own personalized, sustainable kitchen. The collections include three lead-free brass handles and several Cradle to Cradle-certified handles.
