A press tour to lick your fingers at: Confectionery Arnold Cornelis celebrates 50 years
Banketbakkerij Arnold Cornelis celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020. Since 1970, the Amsterdam-based confectionery has been making and selling artisanal delicacies in its first location on the Van Baerlestraat. The same delicacies are also sold in the monumental building on the Elandsgracht and in the newest location on the Van der Hooplaan in Amstelveen. In Amsterdam and the surrounding area Arnold Cornelis is known for its yoga cake, which has been made according to a secret recipe for decades and contains considerably fewer calories. The anniversary will be celebrated with its own glossy, in which loyal customers can read about the history of the company and get a glimpse of the bakers’ work. It is up to De Wolven to bring this delightful news to their attention.
Together with designer Cabbage and Sandra Cornelis we thought about what to include in the glossy. A bit of history of course, a – literal – look into the kitchen and a scoop: the bakery announced that it would be starting with vegan pastry. Even bakers have to move with the times, and if anyone can manage to make vegan pastries tasty, it is Arnold Cornelis.
De Wolven was also responsible for the press process surrounding the launch of the magazine. This resulted in beautiful publications in Het Parool, local media in Amstelveen and De Telegraaf.
'Even on my first day at De Wolven, I had noticed that confectioner Arnold Cornelis was regularly eating tasty things at the office. When they approached us for a partnership, we jumped at the chance. It's nice to be able to put this family business in the spotlight during their anniversary year, which unfortunately couldn't be celebrated lavishly due to the corona pandemic.
