Circl launches circular podcast series with help from The Wolves

13 November 2018

All about the world of circularity with innovative entrepreneurs and experts

Circl has started a new podcast series about the enormous potential of circularity and its applications in practice. The circular clubhouse in Amsterdam’s Zuidas district takes listeners along to various events and lets pioneers do the talking. Expect inspiring, different-thinking entrepreneurs, scientists and creatives who contribute in their own way to a circular economy. Each month focuses on a different theme; the first of three episodes on design is online today. The series is being produced in collaboration with permanent PR partner De Wolven.

For Circl, sharing knowledge is paramount. In the completely circular pavilion meetings, workshops and knowledge sessions are organized, tours are given and inspiring exhibitions can be seen. All with the aim of moving society towards a sustainable world. With the help of the Amsterdam PR and communication agency De Wolven, podcasts have now also been added as a means of communication. The popularity of podcasts in the Netherlands makes it an ideal medium for introducing a larger audience to the opportunities of circularity in an accessible way.

Everything starts with design

The first three episodes are about design. Everything around us is designed and designers are at the beginning of the circular and sustainable production process. How do designers and artists apply circularity and sustainability without making concessions to aesthetics and quality? Experts from Circl talk to them about the value of materials and how to reuse them.

Episode 1: From Trash to Treasure (online today)
Recorded from Circl during the first edition of the exhibition ‘From Trash to Treasure’. Expert Rose-Ann Lum Chou talks to the initiators of the exhibition; Marijn Muller and Pien Rademakers about the design of the future, inspiring examples and dilemmas in the design industry.

Episode 2: Awareness and impact through design
Artist duo Les Deux GarÇons and artist Florentijn de Boer present their circular designs during the exhibition ‘From Trash to Treasure’. Expert Rose-Ann talks to them about the meaning of circularity for their work, where they get their inspiration, but most importantly how working with residual materials makes our world a more beautiful place.

Episode 3: Circularity and textile craft at Dutch Design Week
Circl’s raging reporter Malu Hilverink visits Marijn Muller, founder and owner of Cartoni design, and Annemieke Koster, founder and owner of the sustainable weaving mill Enschede Textile City. Both present their work during Dutch Design Week. Malu discovers how both designers make high quality (design) products, without using new raw materials, and learns about slow design and recycling of fabrics.

The first episode of the circular podcast series can be listened to from today.
