Designbureau Beautiful Minds, strateeg Ezra van Tiel en communicatiebureau De Wolven ontwikkelen WatZr-campagne

North Holland residents are encouraged for a year to take measures that contribute to climate adaptation and a sustainable water chain
The WatZr campaign was launched today by distributing thousands of flower seed bombs in 28 municipalities in North Holland. The campaign is an initiative of Samen blauwgroen: a collaboration of 28 municipalities in North Holland, Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, PWN and the province of North Holland. The goal is to encourage residents to do watZrs: small, simple actions in and around the house that, when added up, reduce the risk of flooding, water shortage and heat stress and contribute to a sustainable water chain. The campaign was developed by the Amsterdam design agency Beautiful Minds, strategist Ezra van Tiel and PR and communications agency De Wolven.
Below is an overview of the CSR initiatives that bol.com has realized in 2020, divided into three pillars.
The campaign is the result of an initial collaboration between the agencies. Beautiful Minds is responsible for the concept and visual development, Ezra van Tiel is involved as a communication strategist and De Wolven is responsible for all PR and social media expressions. The WatZr campaign consists of a website with information, inspiration and tips and an Instagram account. There will also be a toolkit containing campaign materials to get started, so that residents can be activated immediately. The campaign is designed so that all parties involved can roll out the campaign themselves, locally and inspire and encourage residents to take whatZrs.
Small actions against climate change
A dried-up garden, flooded cellars or an overflowing sewer system: these are all consequences that we regularly experience as a result of increasingly extreme weather conditions. Municipalities, the water board and PWN are taking measures to combat this, but these efforts also require awareness and action from residents themselves: approximately half of the surface area in urban areas is private property. That is why the Samen blauwgroen collective is calling on residents to take WatZrs: small and simple actions in and around the home that contribute to reducing heat stress, flooding and water shortages and to a sustainable water chain. The campaign will focus on four themes over the coming year: starting with heat stress and drought, followed by water nuisance, clean sewers and time for the garden.
A watZr
A watZr can be anything: for example, replacing one tile in the garden with a plant, collecting rainwater and storing it for a drier period, or using a watering can instead of a sprinkler on hot days.
