Investments through DuurzaamInvesteren.nl tripled by 2021

Sustainable entrepreneurs raised a total of €77.3 million in funding through the platform
Investment platform DuurzaamInvesteren.nl tripled its funding in 2021 compared to 2020 by raising a total of €77.3 million from investors on the platform. The growth can be explained in part by a number of new industries on the platform, such as organic farming and circular business cases. DuurzaamInvesteren.nl sees that the sense of urgency with regard to the climate problem is growing and that the demand for sustainable investments is therefore increasing. In the field of circular entrepreneurship, the platform sees that more and more industries and companies are coming up with solutions. The growth in investment projects shows that there is interest from private investors for these projects and companies.
‘For us, the transition to a circular economy is an important ambition. More and more sustainable companies know how to find our platform. With this we contribute to the acceleration of this development,’ says Enrique Aparicio Torres, CEO of the platform.
More and more circular
DuurzaamInvesteren.nl saw the number of circular business projects increase in 2021. For example, Organic Nutrion Center raised a total of €3.2 million in investments. In the circular economy, the business model is different and so is the revenue model: from purchase to use through lease, buy back or pay-per-use. This requires more pre-financing and also means that revenue streams start later. For companies that want to make this circular transition, banks and funds do not always offer the right options. At DuurzaamInvesteren.nl companies determine their offerings and the conditions for investment themselves, and private investors choose whether or not to invest in an offering based on the information provided. This also applies to circular projects and companies.
DuurzaamInvesteren.nl has been involved with investing in leases for some time. In 2021, the platform provided funding for projects such as Zelfstroom, Hallostroom, Solease, Greening Lease, Zonhuur, and Innax. A total of €6,470,000 in investment was raised for these projects. DuurzaamInvesteren.nl sees these lease constructions as a step towards more circular entrepreneurship.
Sustainable results
The volume of renewable energy also increased. In 2021, 25 wind and solar energy projects raised financing on DuurzaamInvesteren.nl. In 2020 there were still 14.The 25 solar and wind energy projects represent an installed capacity of 201 MW of wind energy and 376 MWp of solar energy, good for providing energy to approximately 280,000 households. ‘The fact that we landed at number 1 of the Crowdfunding top 100 this year with “KiesZon for the future” shows that we offer a serious investment option. The required 15 million raised through DuurzaamInvesteren.nl means that in the next three years solar power will be realized for 80,000 households,” Torres said.
