04 January 2019

16 January: fashion show, workshops, talks, circular fashion market

On Wednesday, January 16, Circl is dedicated to slow fashion and innovations from the fashion industry. Together with M-ODE, the circular pavilion brings a complete program around sustainable developments in fashion. Start the day with the Fashion Forward breakfast, highlighting the failure stories of fashion brands. During the lunch sessions, talk with us about the changes and challenges in the fashion industry. Get inspired by innovative fashion made from recycled materials during the slow fashion show: Still Life. Shop at circular fashion initiatives and discover this day how you can make your own sustainable fashion choices.

This event is part of the Week of Circular Economy (January 14 – 18). At Circl, headquarters of the fourth edition, a week of events aimed at taking the next step in circular entrepreneurship will take place. Check the Circl website for the full program.

Fashion Forward Breakfast – Fashion Fails
Wednesday 16 January – 08.00 – 09.30 hrs | free admission

More and more brands are going in a green direction. But making an honest fashion brand into a big success is not that easy. What if you’re just too progressive, or if the sustainable material falls apart before the customer has even worn it? During Fashion Forward Breakfast Christiaan Maats – founder of OAT Shoes, and Sivan Breemhaar – founder of Afriek, tell about the hard, educational and sometimes hilarious lessons they learned as green entrepreneurs.

Fashion Lunch Sessions:
Wednesday, January 16 12:00 – 13:30 | free admission

Choose from three interesting lunch sessions about the changes and challenges in the fashion industry.

  1. From fast to fair; about the journey of a garment, from factory to your closet.
  2. #Lesswaste; about how we give our discarded textiles a second life.
  3. Branding for Change; about campaigns that get the fashion world moving. What are the do’s and dont’s?

Slow Fashion show: Still Life
Wednesday 16 January, 17.00 – 20.00 | free entrance

Before the show you can talk to fashion pioneers about new ways of designing and producing clothes. Afterwards you can shop in Circl at circular fashion initiatives such as Kloffie Markt and Lebl Denim. Get inspired by fashion made from recycled materials and discover how you can make your own sustainable fashion choices!
