Employers beware: over-50s on the rise!

Real life Elevator Pitch for 50-plussers
Employers Service Point Greater Amsterdam (WSP) and the City of Amsterdam are today presenting the final part of the ‘Discover 50PLUS’ campaign. In cooperation with De Wolven they developed the campaign video ‘The Real Elevator Pitch’, in which jobseekers over 50 present their qualities in the elevators of office building Nest. The video will be distributed through our own channels and media partners Metro Amsterdam and Hello Zuidas.
In the business heart of the city the three 50-plussers showed their qualities to potential employers. Italian IT specialist Franco Dessi, salesman of breed Jelle Zuiderveld and creative hospitality employee Vera Louise Scheerlink told unsuspecting employees and visitors of the building what they have to offer. Interested parties received their business cards, which also serve as vouchers for a joint cup of coffee at Circl in the nearby Zuidas. The 50-plussers hope that this will increase their business network and their chances of finding a job.
Participant Franco Dessi: “This is a great opportunity for me to meet different employers. But I also think it is very important to use this campaign to be a face for all the other 50-plussers who, like me, are looking for a new job.”
Discover the 50PLUS
Twelve candidates are the face of the umbrella campaign Discover the 50PLUS, which has been running since October 2017 and has already helped seven of them find a job. Important, because in Amsterdam some 6200 people aged 50 or older are actively looking for a job. The extensive outdoor campaign can be seen throughout the city, to remind all potential employers of Amsterdam about the qualities and advantages of an older employee.
