Join Thijs Boontjes’ Biggest Dance and Show Orchestra of the Netherlands

Put on your dancing shoes, get the dressing up box from the attic, dust off your musical instrument or warm up those vocal cords. On Monday, June 1, at 8 p.m., musician Thijs Boontjes will celebrate this unique summer by performing, together with the largest Dance and Show Orchestra the Netherlands has ever known. To realize this live concert, Boontjes calls on everyone to participate via Zoom and social media. By dancing, singing and making music. Other creative expressions are also welcome. Boontjes wrote the song ‘Alles Wat Ik Kan’ especially for the kick-off of iktoon, Month of Amateur Arts to celebrate the special fifth edition. More information and registration for the Greatest Dance and Show Orchestra can be found at www.iktoon.nl.
‘Especially in these times, the importance of art and culture is massively emphasized. Creative activities bring pleasure, comfort and distraction. It enriches and connects people. That’s why we’re starting this year’s iktoon with a performance by the ‘Greatest Dance and Show Orchestra’ of the Netherlands,” says Bart van Meijl, chairman of the Royal Dutch Music Organisation (KNMO), one of the partners of iktoon.
Join us! Participating is easy and free. Anyone can register for the orchestra at www.iktoon.nl. On Monday, June 1, the performance will take place at 20:00 via Zoom, and livestream via Instagram and Facebook.
Online Dance and Show Masterclasses
No real live concert without a dress rehearsal. Therefore, on Wednesday, May 20 and Wednesday, May 27 at 8 p.m., free online Dance and Show Masterclasses by Thijs Boontjes will take place via the Zoom platform. Learn to play and sing the song, meet hundreds of fellow orchestra members and amateur artists, get inspired and above all have fun together.

Iktoon 2020
Every year, thousands of creative people across more than one hundred and thirty municipalities demonstrate their skills. From sculpting to making music and vlogging. The campaign ‘iktoon – kunst van iedereen’ (I’m showing art for everyone) aims to enthuse society for active arts and cultural practice. And to share their art. Because art and culture contribute to mental and physical health. This fifth year is a little different than usual. With limited access to arts centers, community centers, music and dance schools, and the ban on large events, this year iktoon celebrates creativity largely from home. We do this with the Biggest Dance and Show Orchestra of the Netherlands and the ‘Best Amateur Artists of the Netherlands’ competition. Visit www.iktoon.nl for more information about participating in iktoon 2020.
