Publicity for awards: KNAW
The question
The KNAW, the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, is the heart of science, with the best minds in the Netherlands. In addition, they hand out various prizes every year: the Onderwijsprijs for the best profile assignments of VWO final exam candidates, the Merian prize to promote the visibility of female scientists and the Heineken Young Scientist Award for young, promising scientists. Since 2009, De Wolven has had the honor of drawing attention to these awards and winners.
Our Actions
- Providing media training to winning scientists. How do you tell your story to laypeople? How do you tell about your research to journalists?
- At the Education Prize we pick out the mediagenic entries and use them to approach national, regional and local media in a targeted way.
The results
Attention in national media (NOS, Telegraaf, NRC Next, Volkskrant, EenVandaag), specific youth media (Zapp, Scholieren.com) and regional media (RTV Drenthe, AD Haagsche Courant, Gooi- en Eemlander).
