The Wolven show public relations skills for new exhibitions museum Het Grachtenhuis
PR and communications agency De Wolven supports museum Het Grachtenhuis in generating publicity for their temporary exhibitions. This is the first time that the Amsterdam museum is supplementing its permanent exhibition with new visions of the canal district. This year’s exhibition features a variety of works, from great Amsterdam Impressionists such as George Hendrik Breitner to contemporary artists such as French architect Marcel Bajard. What unites the artists is their fascination with Amsterdam and their ability to portray the stories of the canals. With the media attention, The Grachtenhuis wants to familiarize museum visitors, art admirers and art collectors with the diversity of art in its museum on the Herengracht.
This summer the public can admire drawings, prints and floor plans by Marcel Bajard. The French architect and urban planner recorded Amsterdam in detail. His work shows the chaotic orderliness of the buildings along the ring of canals and how this has been consistently maintained over the centuries. In collaboration with Marketing and Communications Advisor Ciska Rugers of Museum Het Grachtenhuis, De Wolven is now working to make this different view known and is inviting art editors to form their own images of the works. The temporary exhibition ‘Amsterdam: Another Look’ can be visited until Saturday 29 July.
Successful collaboration
Earlier this year, the PR agency successfully collaborated on the first temporary exhibition: ‘Israëls komt logeren in Museum Het Grachtenhuis’ with work by the painter Isaac Israëls never before shown in museums. AD, PS van de Week, Het Parool and Telegraaf, among others, paid attention to the paintings by the Amsterdam impressionist. Through social media the public was stimulated to admire the works with their own eyes. This resulted in long queues of visitors in front of the museum and an extension of the exhibition until April 29.
About The Canal House
Museum Het Grachtenhuis is the place where the story of the canals is told in an accessible and approachable way. In the permanent multimedia exhibition, tens of thousands of visitors each year are introduced to one of the most spectacular urban expansions in the world: the seventeenth-century ring of canals in Amsterdam. This ring of canals is a cluster of these special values, qualities, stories and studies, and is therefore constantly evolving; Museum Het Grachtenhuis sees it as its task to present new and different visions of these.
