Start of the third Week of the Circular Economy

16 January 2018

More than 60 events around circularity

Today marks the start of the third week of the Circular Economy. Until Friday, January 19, circular leaders open their doors to inspire others. Throughout the country there are more than 60 events to visit, from workshops to lectures and from kitchen table talks to breakfast sessions. In addition, Nederland Circulair! gives starting entrepreneurs a kickstart with the action Circular Power in 24 hours.

During the Week, companies and organizations will show that circular entrepreneurship is not only necessary, but also very promising. The goal of the Week is to inspire visitors to also take circular steps and give them concrete tools to do so. Expect do’s & don’ts and best and worst practices from experts who are already doing smart, circular business.

What there is to do
The events range from circular inspiration sessions to recycling workshops and from a working conference with Rijkswaterstaat and ProRail to a circular bike ride. You can participate in the Funky Phone Challenge or take a look inside Zero Waste Lab. There are also breakfast sessions like the BreakfastBreak at Roetz Fair Factory and the Circular Business Breakfast.

HAVEP
The Week of Circular Economy is made possible by HAVEP. They have been producing recyclable corporate clothing lines for several years, by 2025 90 percent of the assortment must be circular. CEO Anna van Puijenbroek: “With the course we set one and a half years ago, we not only want to realize growth but at the same time a sustainable future for the coming generations. HAVEP has been in existence for over 150 years and in order to give the company another long life, we need to become more sustainable. This means that we must further expand our knowledge in the field of sustainable business. We absolutely cannot do this on our own and that is why the Circular Economy Week is so important; it allows us to meet like-minded people and share knowledge. Not only within the textile sector but also by looking at how other industries are tackling this.”
